Welcome Mabel Lazo Quino to the Green Empowerment Team!
We are excited to announce that Mabel Lazo Quino has joined Green Empowerment’s team in Nicaragua as the new Nicaragua Program Coordinator! Mabel is a native Nicaraguan from Siuna (in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region) with 11 years of experience in the international development and public health sectors. She studied Clinical Psychology and graduated as a Public Health Technician from Northwest Vista College in San Antonio, Texas.
Coming from a rural area, Mabel has experienced firsthand the need for renewable energy and water technologies and is passionate about bringing water, electricity, and improved cookstoves to rural communities. She is dedicated to supporting our local partners in Nicaragua in the implementation of service-learning trips and projects focusing on water, sanitation, renewable energy, and more.
Mabel says, “I am excited to join the Green Empowerment team. From my personal experiences living without electricity, I understand the need and impact it can have. I want to have a new experience learning about the renewable energy field and the opportunity to work hand-in-hand improving the wellbeing for the communities where we are working.”We are extremely grateful to the Christadelphian Meal-a-Day Fund of the Americas for their generous support for Mabel as Nicaragua Program Coordinator and Green Empowerment’s work across Latin America.
