    A first look at Green Empowerment’s 2026–2028 Strategy and why micro-utilities are central to our vision for lasting impact
  • Solar Water Pumping in the Andes
    How solar-powered systems are expanding reliable water access for Indigenous families in high-altitude communities
  • Change That Lasts
    Training local technicians and building regional networks so community-owned micro-utilities can thrive for generations

The Evening at Glance:

Arrive early to enjoy a drink, connect with staff and fellow supporters, and take in the beautiful brick archways of Irving St. Studio set to the sounds of live Peruvian music. Then settle in for a seated dinner with improved buffet serving and a meaningful program.

This year’s Spring Benefit will also celebrate Andrea Johnson’s 10 Year Anniversary as Executive Director of Green Empowerment and the collective impact made possible by you, our global community of donors, partners, and community organizers.

Claudia Romero Saavedra

Peru & Bolivia Program Coordinator

Across Peru and Bolivia, Claudia leads community-driven water and sanitation initiatives, including micro-utilities, household metering, and technician training networks. A forestry engineer with experience in conservation and project management, she is deeply committed to improving lives through sustainable, locally led solutions.

Andrea Johnson

Executive Director

Under Andrea's leadership, the organization has doubled its operating budget and more than quadrupled the number of communities it partners with each year. Leaning into Green Empowerment’s values, Andrea has guided a strategic evolution that uplifts local leadership at every level, from community members, to partner organizations, to in-country staff, while expanding programs into Africa and building a globally rooted leadership team.

Martin Zarzar

Peruvian-American Musician

Martin Zarzar is a Peruvian-American musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for his eclectic blend of Latin, jazz, world, and pop music. Born in Lima, Peru, Zarzar spent his childhood between Europe and Lima, which deeply influenced his musical outlook.
