CONTEXT
Green Empowerment and ALTROPICO have supported 13 communities along the Cayapas River to build their own clean water micro-utilities, bringing potable water to over 3,300 people in their homes. These systems are thriving and neighboring communities are asking to collaborate.
CHALLENGE
Three hours (via motorized canoe) upriver from the nearest highway, communities on the vast Cayapas depend on this river for transportation, livelihood, and water. But the river is highly contaminated and communities are looking for new solutions for water to drink, cook, clean, and bathe with.
