We are incredibly excited to welcome Elise Kittrell to the Green Empowerment team! Elise brings a wide-range of experiences to the Technical Manager position and is excited to apply her engineering skills and rural community development background to Green Empowerment’s mission. “I believe access to reliable and safe drinking water, sanitation and energy is not a privilege but a basic service everyone should have. Green Empowerment’s sustainable approach to promote and provide these necessities is both effective and successful, the main reason I wanted to join this organization. I am both excited and grateful for this opportunity to work with Green Empowerment and our partners to help people around the world,” Elise said after starting with us on Monday, June 12th. Before coming to Green Empowerment, Elise was working at an engineering firm in Virginia where she was working on designing and monitoring large scale water and air quality infrastructure projects; but she was eager to get back into community development and apply her skills to help others in developing countries. Prior to that role, Elise was a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Peace Corps Volunteer in Peru, where she gained on-the-ground experience with a variety of technologies that Green Empowerment deploys in rural community settings. Elise joined the Peace Corps to build on her professional experience in both the environmental engineering and WASH sector in the United States, and to use her educational experience (including a Masters in Environmental Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.)In her new role, Elise will help ensure the technical quality of Green Empowerment’s renewable energy and clean water systems while supporting field staff and local partners in their capacity to design, implement and sustain projects. Her experience in engineering, technical writing and tool kit development in both English and Spanish will also help expand the impact of our work beyond individual projects and communities through the promotion of best practices to a broad audience of stakeholders. We are excited to welcome Elise to the Green Empowerment family and are eager to see how she will help GE and our partners expand our impact!
