Green Empowerment Welcomes New Development Manager, Kristen Grauer

We are thrilled to welcome Kristen Grauer to the Green Empowerment team. Kristen is a seasoned nonprofit professional, with an enthusiasm for event-based fundraising and communications work. She hopes to advance Green Empowerment’s mission by fostering meaningful relationships between people in Portland, the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Before joining Green Empowerment, Kristen supported a number of community-based nonprofits, including the Nonprofit Association of Oregon and Partners in Diversity. During her time at these organizations, she managed events – from 500+ networking events to intimate and educational workshops – cultivated partnerships with donors, volunteers and sponsors, and improved communications through graphic design, brand development and strategic campaigns.Although proud of her efforts to advance social justice locally, she is excited to return to the international development sector. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied development and democracy in Latin America, she worked on the Global Education team at the Results for Development Institute (R4D) in Washington D.C. She also studied in Valparaíso, Chile for six months to deepen her understanding of the nation’s sociopolitical history and refine her Spanish language skills. She was drawn to Green Empowerment because she, too, believes that international development initiatives are most successful when beneficiaries lead and lend their voices. In her role as Development Manager, she will execute the organization’s fundraising and communications strategies to increase Green Empowerment’s visibility as a leader in community-driven, sustainable development.
