On October 23rd, 2020, Green Empowerment is turning 23! As we prepare to blow out the candles, we celebrate the vision that drives us: a sustainable world where all people have access to clean water, renewable energy and a healthy environment in which to grow and thrive. In the last two decades our service partnerships and sustainable development efforts have helped over 425,000 people take the development of their communities into their own hands.
This work would not be possible without the dedication of our partner organizations around the globe and the tireless work of thousands of individual community members. Join us in thanking them and celebrating all the things that bring us together.
Partnership: We partner with in-country organizations to implement renewable energy, clean water and
complementary sanitation, environmental and economic development projects.
Engagement: We engage communities from start to finish to build ownership and ensure long-term project viability.
Capacity Building: We provide technical expertise, training, funding and additional resources to build local capacity.
Impact Expansion: We amplify our impact through regional networks, technical trainings and service-learning programs.
In 2019 alone we helped:
- 2,446 people gain access to clean water
- 2,900 people gain access to renewable energy in health clinics
- 728 people gain access to renewable energy in their home or school
- 96 communities benefit from critical infrastructure projects

Where We Work
From one project in Nicaragua, we have expanded our work to 9 countries around the globe. This year we launched our first programs in Uganda!
Join Our Global Community
A critical aspect of our organizational model & one of the strongest drivers of the long-term sustainability of our projects, is developing long-term partnerships with local organizations. Green Empowerment is founded on the principle that it’s not only more effective, but essential, to channel resources to local leaders and organizations in the field who are best equipped to understand the needs of local populations.
Thank you to all of our global partners, we could not do this work without you!
